The mainstream media, led by the Washington Post, New York Times, and CNN, are out for revenge against President Trump for labeling them “fake news” and using social media to get around them, according to an explosive forthcoming book by muckraker James O’Keefe.

In “American Pravda,” due out Tuesday, the head of Project Veritas writes that Trump and his White House have gotten under the skin of the mainstream media so much that they’ve given up fair and unbiased coverage and turned to mockery.

“The major media have entered an unprecedented new phase,” he wrote in the book. “Their corporate survival model now demands that they feed a beast increasingly hungry not for truth but for revenge."

Publisher All Points Books, part of St. Martin’s Press, provided a pre-release copy to Secrets.

O’Keefe’s Project Veritas videos have rocked the media and politics for years. For example, he revealed rampant election rigging by Democrats during the 2016 election and quoted major media insiders on their hate for Trump.

He wrote that the surprise Trump election over favorite Hillary Clinton finally showed that the media can’t be trusted. “The business model is in crisis because for years, the media have been passing off their analysis and opinions as journalism. When this ‘journalism’ is shown to be as spectacularly misguided as it was on Election Day, citizens have reason to wonder whether they should believe anything the media might say about the Trump administration going forward.”

And in his book, he predicts that the mainstream media is teetering on collapse.

“I have to agree with President Trump that the ‘fake news media’ are not his enemy, but the enemy of the American people. As an enemy, they remain formidable. Their reign will end, I suspect, not with a bang and not with a whimper but with a tantrum. We have been experiencing that phase every day since the election,” O’Keefe wrote.

The book reviews many of Project Veritas' scoops and how the mainstream media tried to smear its reports. In using “Pravda” in the title, he noted that Russian readers of the state-sponsored Pravda “knew they were being lied to. This book explains my fight to get the American people to see the world for what it actually is, as opposed to what the mainstream media would have them believe.”

He pointed to Matt Drudge’s Drudge Report, Breitbart News, Salem Radio, and Rush Limbaugh as the heroes of truthful reporting. Last week, the Drudge Report featured a Project Veritas report on Twitter censorship.

O’Keefe recalled that Drudge hit “paydirt” in 1998 when he revealed former President Bill Clinton’s West Wing sex scandal with Monica Lewinsky. “He never slowed down. During the 2016 campaign, Drudge was getting as many as 1.5 billion page views a month.”
