Democrats refused to budge when Republicans wanted a one-year delay of Obamacare's individual mandate.
Their refusal led to a government shutdown -- but now some of the same Democrats are suggesting the same solution after the botched launch of Obamacare.
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., thinks that's ironic.
"There certainly is some irony. The Democrats shut down [the] government because they wouldn't accept a one-year delay. Now it's so bad they're actually in favor of a one-year delay," Paul said during an interview with Fox News host Megyn Kelly.
Paul promoted his proposed constitutional amendment that would force all federal government officials to live under the same laws that they pass for the people.
Paul admitted that the amendment would require an "enormous groundswell" to pass but insisted that there was widespread public support for the idea.
