…At least some of the Redskins know they entered the week as heavy underdogs vs. New Orleans. They opened as 9 1/2 –point underdogs, though the line is now a touchdown (though some betting lines remain with the original number).

“We’re working our way back up now,”  linebacker Lorenzo Alexander said. “We don’t worry what Vegas is talking about. We have complete confidence in ourselves. As long as we execute we’ll give ourselves a chance to win.

“If we hit these guys in the mouth and play fast and hard, we’ll give ourselves a chance to win.”

…Tight end Fred Davis, who caught just two passes this summer, said he’s received more work in the passing game during recent practices. And don’t forget: Davis caught just three passes in the 2011 preseason en route to his best season.

“I feel pretty good,” Davis said. “The last couple weeks I’ve been getting a lot more work in. I definitely feel more confident in that area.”

…Davis said the Redskins’ offense shouldn’t try to keep up with the Saints.

“We should focus on plays we have and executing 100 percent,” Davis said. “We can’t afford turnovers. We can’t afford to give them that many opportunities to get the ball back. We can help our defense by executing on third down and in the red zone plays that we lacked last year. Just making those plays will help us a lot.”

…Don’t expect the Redskins to cringe just because they’ll be playing in a loud dome stadium on Sunday. They worked on crowd noise inside their own facility on Monday (they’re working outside Wednesday).

“The louder it is the more I like it,” defensive end Adam Carriker said. “That’s part of what I like. It’s like listening to music before the game. It helps get you up. If you can’t get into the game when the crowd is going crazy you’re doing the wrong thing.”

…Receiver Josh Morgan wasn’t going to back away from what he told On Tap magazine about Robert Griffin III, that he’s as fast as Michael Vick, can make all the throws like Peyton Manning and make all the reads like Tom Brady.

“He’s that type of talent,” Morgan said. “If he keeps preparing the way he’s preparing, god forbid there’s any injury, he does have that capability. The physical attributes are there, but the way he prepares mentally that puts him up there with those guys. I know he’s just a rookie but if keeps it up you’ll hear his name up there with those guys.”
