Authorities responded to reports of shots being fired close to a nursing home in Floresville, Texas, ahead of Vice President Pence’s visit nearby in Sutherland Springs.
Joe Tackitt, Wilson County Sheriff, was unable to confirm if the shooter was active, but said they were looking for someone, according to News 4 San Antonio.
Law enforcement called off the search for a gunman after an hour, My San Antonio reported.
Pence is scheduled to visit Sutherland Springs, where the mass shooting at Sutherland Springs First Baptist Church occurred on Sunday, and meet with law enforcement officials. A total of 26 people were killed and 30 more were injured in the shooting.
Pence is also planning to meet the families of the shooting victims and attend a vigil in Floresville in the evening.
