Secretary of State Rex Tillerson didn't want to be secretary of state.
"I didn't want this job. I didn't seek this job," the former CEO of Exxon Mobil told the only reporter he allowed to fly with him on his recent trip to Asia.
"My wife told me I'm supposed to do this."
Tillerson told Independent Journal Review that he was "stunned" President Trump asked him to be his top diplomat.
When he told his wife, Renda St. Clair, the news she responded, "God's not through with you."
Tillerson, who turns 65 this week, had planned to retire this month and spend more time with his grandkids before he accepted Trump's offer.
"My wife convinced me," Tillerson said. "She was right. I'm supposed to do this."
