PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island's attorney general is warning shoppers to watch out for online scams ahead of "Cyber Monday."

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin says it's important for people to be vigilant online and protect their personal information. He urges shoppers to use secure websites with an address beginning with "https" and a padlock image at the bottom of the page. He says shoppers should familiarize themselves with a site's privacy policy and how personal information may be used.

They should also beware of deals from unsolicited sources or on websites that seem too good to be true. Kilmartin also says shoppers should make sure their computers have the latest anti-virus software, spam filters and a secure firewall. They should also keep records of their purchases.
