Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, is standing by his veto of funding for the public integrity unit run by the office of Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, even though he's being booked Tuesday on an indictment charging him with abuse of power in connection with that veto.

Perry denounced the indictment and accused his detractors Saturday of being motivated by petty political concerns. But the governor didn’t leave it at that: Perry’s new RickPAC political action committee on Tuesday released a video defending his veto decision that featured some memorable moments from Lehmberg's drunk driving arrest in April 2013.

And it’s really pretty brutal. So brutal, in fact, that one wonders just how much thought was put into the Perry indictment. Did Texas Democrats think Perry wouldn't kick back? Did they not anticipate video of Lehmberg being circulated?
