Former press secretary Robert Gibbs admitted that President Obama stopped trying to change Washington years ago.

"Well, I think, you know, the ability to change Washington, I think, is something that long ago the White House sort of stopped trying to do, and whether or not that is a good thing, we'll look back on history," Gibbs said.

When introduced on MSNBC as a person who used to be in the White House, Gibbs replied, "Thank God."

Gibbs said Obama has to move beyond 2013, which he described as a "lost year" for the president.
