The Secret Service paid over $137,000 to rent golf carts from Trump's Florida and New Jersey properties, according to a report.
On Sept. 29, the Secret Service spent $61,960 to rent golf carts at the Trump International Golf Club in Florida to protect the Trump family, the biggest purchase so far, according to USA Today.
The president has been criticized for his frequent weekend travel, spending 17 weekends outside of Washington, D.C. Earlier Wednesday, press secretary Sarah Sanders defended Trump's use of Air Force One, which costs about $180,000 an hour to operate, on his trips to Florida and New Jersey.
"The president is in a certainly very different position. He's not allowed to travel in a different way other than in a secure airplane as Air Force One," Sanders said at the White House press briefing.
In August, it was reported that the Secret Service can no longer afford to pay its agents overtime wages due to the size of Trump's family. It was also reported that the service spent $7,000 on high-end restroom rentals for Trump's 'working vacation' at his Bedminster, N.J. property.
