Jennifer Beals brought some "flash" to Capitol Hill this week on behalf of two different causes.

The actress has moved on from "Flashdance" and now stars in Web series "Lauren," a fictional exploration of the obstacles facing a military woman who reports her sexual assault.

Beals delivered opening remarks on military sexual violence at the Service Women's Action Network 2013 Summit on Wednesday, joining female lawmakers also pushing for policy change such as Sens. Jeanne Shaheen, Amy Klobuchar and Kirsten Gillibrand and Reps. Chellie Pingree and Loretta Sanchez. Beals also lobbied lawmakers Tuesday for Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families to pass the Safe Chemicals Act.
