Buffalo defeats Navy, 63-53

ANNAPOLIS, MD. — Calvin Betts scored 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had four steals in Buffalo's 63-53 win over Navy on Thursday night.

Mitchell Watt scored 13 points, John Boyer added 10 and Jawaan Alston had 10 rebounds for the Bulls (1-1).

Buffalo outrebounded the Midshipmen 42-32 and held Jordan Sugard, the defending Patriot League player of the week, to nine points and seven rebounds. Sugard scored a combined 30 points and 24 rebounds in the Midshipmen's games against Radford and Longwood.

Leading just 44-43 with 9:32 left in the game, the Bulls went on an 11-3 run for a 55-46 advantage with 2:18 remaining.

Chris Harris scored 15 points, Romeo Garcia 12 and Mark Veazey 10 for the Midshipmen (1-2), who lost their fourth straight against teams from the Mid-American Conference.
