The radio voice of the Wizards is the hardest working broadcaster in Washington. Dave Johnson, who also handles the D.C. United broadcasts, is the sports director on WTOP radio, sports anchor for CSN and is here nationally on FOX Soccer Channel broadcasts.
Johnson is a local boy and as he enters his 13th season doing the play-by-play for a team he cheered for as a kid, he is excited about what kind of club he will be broadcasting this season.
Johnson on his passion for the team » "I have followed this team since the Earl 'The Pearl' Monroe days and it is funny both [CSN TV voice] Steve Buckhantz and I are local guys. We can broadcast the games with the knowledge and passion that comes from following our favorite team since we were kids and that is rare in broadcasting and that is why I think fans can relate so well with both of us."
Johnson on his excitement about this year's Wizards » "There is a big buzz around the region and around the league about this team: The return of Gilbert Arenas, new coach Flip Saunders and his up-tempo style of offense. Everywhere I go people want to talk about the team and how good they can really be. I think that everyone feels we might have something very special going on in Chinatown this year and they just can't wait to see how things work out."
Johnson will be joined on the radio with color analyst and partner of three years Glenn Consor. The duo will handle the pre- and post-game duties on their new flagship station, 106.7 FM The Fan. Johnson was very excited about the support the new station was giving the team and the commitment they have to promoting Wizards basketball throughout the day on all of their daytime programming.
On the TV side, most Wizards games will be seen in high definition on CSN, the team's familiar home.
Courtside, the Wizards will be covered by the popular team of Buckhantz and longtime broadcast partner and former Bullet Phil Chenier. The pre- and post-game duties will be handled by Chris Miller.
There will also be extensive coverage of the Wizards all season long on CSN+.
