Verizon Center will host Dallas on Oct. 9

The Washington Wizards will take their longest road trip of the year before the 2009-10 season even begins, with six games over 12 days to conclude its preseason schedule, which was announced Tuesday.

The Wizards will face head coach Flip Saunders’ former team, the Detroit Pistons, on Oct. 13 in Grand Rapids, Mich., and then face LeBron James and the Cavaliers in Cleveland on Oct. 14. Washington will also tangle with the 76ers, former head coach Eddie Jordan’s new club, in Philadelphia on Oct. 20.

The team will host its first-ever preseason game at Siegel Center in Richmond, the site of Wizards training camp, against Memphis on Oct. 6.

Only one preseason game will take place at Verizon Center, on Oct. 9 versus Dallas — the same team the Wizards face on the road in their season opener on Oct. 27.

The Wizards will introduce newly-signed center Fabricio Oberto on Wednesday.
