Hey, if we miss the playoffs, at least we get Pelé

10/08/09 10:50 PM EDT

D.C. United could be eliminated from MLS postseason contention after next weekend's match at RFK Stadium, but how about Michael Caine, Pelé and Sylvester Stallone for some cheering up afterward?

At midnight on Oct. 19, E Street Cinema will show "Victory," part of the four-night Kicking & Screening soccer film festival -- www.kickingandscreening.com -- organized in part by Goal.com editor Greg Lalas.

The festival, part of whose proceeds will benefit D.C. Scores and United for D.C., will commence one night after the U.S. men's national team plays its final World Cup qualifying match against Costa Rica at RFK. "Les Yeux dans les Bleus," the story of the French 1998 World Cup-winning team, will be shown at the French Embassy.

The climax, however, is the chance to see the World War II POWs' inspirational game against the Nazis on the big screen. Former New York Cosmos star Werner Roth, who plays the German captain Baumann, is slated to be in attendance.
