Big day of college football on TV - Hokies, and Terps host Cavs

10/17/09 10:28 AM EDT

Man is there some good sports on this weekend. A great weekend to just grab the remote and settle down for a long day enjoying sports on TV and broadband.

Noon on ABC – Texas – Oklahoma in Dallas.
There are people in the state of Texas that have been counting the seconds – forget counting the days – till they had another chance at Oklahoma -the team that cost them - what they feel was their spot in last year’s BCS Championship game. The Red River Rivalry is one of the best all of college sports and you don’t have to know the way to display the Hook'm Horns or the words to Boomer Sooner to know this is going to be fun.
3:30pm on NBC – USC at Notre Dame
OK the Trojans have owned the Irish for the past decade and this one is being played at the Golden Dome. Three questions will be answered today in South Bend when this game ends around 7pm eastern time tonight. 1. Are the Trojans still legit a BCS National Champion contenders? Can Notre Dame get that signature win that will make people in college football really feel that the program is on the way back? 3. Is Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen really a Heisman Trophy candidate?
3:30pm on CBS – Arkansas at Florida
I know what you are saying Florida should run Arkansas out of the Swamp. True this should be a big time Gator win however we are still in the “let’s take it easy with Tim Tebow”mode at Florida.  Meanwhile the Razorbacks can score points. But can they score enough points agaist the SEC's #1 defense? We will see..
4pm on ESPNU - Virginia at Maryland
This is hardly the Red River Rivalry but in its own way we have two teams that really feel that the can still be a factor in the ACC. The rain and winds will make this a reall challenge for both teams and it will make for a game that is better watched indoors by fans.
6pm on ESPN2 – Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech
Of all the great games we have today this one could be the most entertaining. Two of the best teams in the ACC are hitting their stride and it should be the VT defense vs. GT and their triple option. Good game and Hokie fans know that this is one of those games that if they want a real chance at a National Title shot they really have to play smart. That said Paul Johnson and his offense can even make the best team look silly when the option is working well. Great game for all fans to watch.
7:30pm on Versus – Stanford at Arizona
This game is big for Stanford if have any hope of staying in the PAC 10 race and these two teams always play interesting football.
Two more worth checking out…
7:45pm on ESPN - South Carolina at Alabama
The old ball coach taking on the #2 team in the land is too interesting to leave off the list.
10:30pm on FSN – Washington at Arizona State
Can the Huskies continue to write a wonderful comeback story?
8pm on MASN - NAVY at SMU - The Mids love playing in Texas and they will have plenty of fans on hand Dallas tonight when they face the Mustangs. Navy fans should enjoy another big time win en route to a Texas sweep. last week Rice and this time SMU.

Don't see anything that interests you here. Checkout the Big Ten Network, the Mountain West Network, CBS College Sports and ESPNU for plenty of options.
