Caps Game Night

By: Brian McNally

Capitals defenseman Tyler Sloan will play wing on the fourth line due to injuries to Eric Fehr and Boyd Gordon and Quintin Laing (flu).

Game #11

Caps (6-2-2, 14 points) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (5-3-1, 11 points)

After a 2-0 road trip, the Caps return to Verizon Center to face the Flyers at 7 p.m. tonight. The lineup  is in flux as Alex Semin returns, but both Quintin Laing (flu) and Eric Fehr (upper-body injury) are out. Boyd Gordon (back) is also out again. Defenseman Tyler Sloan will play wing on the fourth line.

Special teams - as always against Philadelphia - are critical. The Caps allowed a short-handed goal last week against Atlanta and have allowed two through 10 games. The Flyers don't have one yet this season. But last year they led the NHL with 16 and are always dangerous on the penalty kill. Washington lost in overtime to Philadelphia on Oct. 6. Nemesis Danny Briere scored the game winner that night - a wildly entertaining 6-5 game.

Unfortunately for you DirecTV folks, tonight's game is on VERSUS - still in a contractual squabble with the satellite provider - and is not airing locally on Comcast SportsNet. Please follow along as we live blog tonight's game. We'll post frequent updates with goals, injuries and whatever else comes up. Will also post the line combinations during warmups in a few hours.
