The Capitals were again down two forwards at practice on Wednesday. Forward Boyd Gordon is still dealing with a sore back and will not play in Thursday's game at Atlanta. Forward Alexander Semin is dealing with...something. "He's - I don't know how to say it. I think he's ill," said Caps coach Bruce Boudreau.

Meanwhile, center Michael Nylander will remain planted firmly on the bench and two players will be recalled from AHL Hershey. Neither call-up was on the ice at Kettler and they will instead meet the team in Atlanta. Expect Keith Aucoin to be one of the recalled players. He can fill in for Gordon at center and was just sent down to Hershey on Monday anyway.

Boudreau - as usual - would not reveal his goalie for tomorrow night's game at Atlanta. But he did say Jose Theodore (back spasms) is ready to go after another day of practice. Gordon will not play against the Thrashers, but will travel with the team and be re-evaluated before Saturday's game against the New York Islanders. Defenseman John Erskine (bruised hand) will also travel with the the team. He last played Oct. 12 and has missed the past two games. More to come...
