The abridged version of the MLS page can be found here (the Devon McTavish story will appear tomorrow). The intent was to have the new Philadelphia Union logo as the artwork anchor. Oh well. You can find that here. Am I off base on the bridge idea? The Philadelphia Inquirer put me onto it.
Here are my rankings:
1. Chivas (7-1-1, 22 points) (1) Tied for second-best start in league history since MLS began recording ties in 2000.
2. Seattle Sounders (4-2-2, 14 pts) (2) James Riley’s ejection – Seattle’s third this season – smears otherwise stellar campaign.
3. Fire (2-0-6, 12 pts) (3) Five ties in a row, a streak that will end during next three games away from Toyota Park.
4. D.C. United (3-1-5, 14 pts) (4) Five games without a loss is one short of best streak in 2008.
5. Dynamo (3-2-2, 11 pts) (5) Houston has gone a 2009 league-best 403 minutes without surrendering a goal.
6. Toronto FC (3-2-4, 13 pts) (7) Interim head coach Chris Cummins the first in TFC history to get at least a point at RFK.
7. Rapids (3-2-2, 11 pts) (8) Bye week highlight: sending former Virginia standout Nico Colaluca to New England for Rob Valentino.
8. Crew (1-2-5, 8 pts) (12) No one’s ever thought Frankie Hejduk would be missed, but he’s proving doubters wrong.
9. Wizards (3-4-2, 11 pts) (6) Josh Wolff (4 goals) is finding his form but K.C. doesn’t look like an elite contender.
10. Revolution (2-2-3, 9 pts) (10) Defensive midfielder Shalrie Joseph (2 goals) leads team in scoring.
11. Red Bulls (2-5-2, 8 pts) (13) Offense explodes for four goals but only against lowly San Jose.
12. Galaxy (1-1-6, 9 pts) (11) Two goals in stoppage time secure draw at Salt Lake. Don’t look now, but L.A. hasn’t lost since Apr. 4.
13. Real Salt Lake (3-4-1, 10 pts) (9) Have been outscored, 5-2, in 0-2-1 stretch since 6-0 win over New England.
14. FC Dallas (1-6-1, 4 pts) (14) Another blow: starting keeper Dario Sala out 4-6 six more weeks with a knee injury.
15. Earthquakes (1-5-2, 5 pts) (15) Getting hard to remember when head coach Frank Yallop won two MLS Cups with the former ‘Quakes.
