A brief mishmash before I roll out for an extended weekend (see you back here Sunday night).

D.C. United: My goalkeeper story ahead of this weekend's visit to Chivas USA...

WPS: The Freedom (1-2-2) head to Harvard Stadium to face Boston (3-2-1) on Sunday -- without suspended Abby Wambach, of course.

USL-2: The not-so-good Western Mass. Pioneers (0-2) visit Crystal Palace (2-2-1) on Friday night and undefeated-at-home Real Maryland (2-1) on Saturday. Crystal Palace also hosts Charlotte (0-2-1) on Saturday night.

PDL: The Northern Virginia Royals (1-1), with PDL team of the week member Sean Kelley (George Mason) in the net, will try to avenge last week's 3-2 home loss to Cary (1-1) on the road in North Carolina.

W-League: The Northern Virginia Majestics open their season at Hampton Roads on Saturday. The Washington Freedom W-League team won its first game, 1-0, last weekend, thanks to a penalty kick from Sandra Matute (VCU) and seven saves by Alyssa Pont (Princeton/O'Connell).
