Madonna is joining forces -- no, not with Britney Spears -- but with the queen of oddball outfits, Lady Gaga, for one of DJ Lil'e's famous blank-vs-blank dance parties Friday night at the 9:30 Club (815 V St. NW). Their contender? Everyone's beloved boy bands like the Backstreet Boys, One Direction and, of course, Donnie Wahlberg's New Kids on the Block. This will be a sold-out music battle for total dance floor domination that will most likely entail glitter, lipstick and confetti.
DJ Lil'e, or Erin Myers, has been spinning tracks in the District since 2002. She's hosted '80s alt-pop dance parties at the Black Cat, packed the dance floor at weddings and regularly performs at the 9:30 Club.
Tickets are $15, and you can buy yours at 930.com. This will be a fun, if not sweaty, night.
LOCAL DJS ROCK
If Lady Gaga and boy bands aren't your thing, then how about something a little more local? U Street Music Hall (1115 U St. NW) is hosting some of the District's best local talent Saturday evening, ranging from Jubilee's raging techno beats to dance tracks by D.C. duo Benoit Benoit, the Two McFlys with Soul Sway and Funkdamentalist and finally, Raffi, who you'll find spinning beats in the DJ booth. And if you like these artists, you'll be able to check them out on a regular basis.
U Street Music Hall -- known for its 200-square-foot cork-cushioned dance floor, wide range of musical guest stars and minimal pretentiousness -- will be cranking up the house beats starting at 10 p.m. Tickets are $10, and you can purchase them at ustreetmusichall.com.
