"Late Show" host Stephen Colbert mocked President Trump for his tweets regarding the terror attack Tuesday in Manhattan which took the lives of eight people.

Colbert noted that after Trump shared his condolences on Tuesday night, his tweets took a political turn Wednesday morning.

“The terrorist came into our country through what is called the 'Diversity Visa Lottery Program,' a Chuck Schumer beauty. I want merit based,” Trump tweeted Wednesday morning, referring to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

“We all want merit-based, sir, but you’re still the president,” Colbert responded after reading Trump’s tweet aloud.

Trump is calling for Congress to cut the diversity visa lottery program, as it was reported the suspect in the attack, 29-year-old Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, entered the country in 2010 under the program.

Saipov is now in custody and has been charged with providing material support to ISIS and violence and destruction of motor vehicles leading to eight deaths.
