Friday through Sunday: Autism Awareness Fundraiser at Baying Hound Aleworks

Baying Hound Aleworks, of Rockville, is partnering with Autism Speaks to host an Autism Awareness fundraising event.

Founded by Paul Rinehart, Baying Hound opened in June 2010 and runs primarily through the dedication of volunteers.

Jayna Dubrey is one of those volunteers, and does a little bit of everything, including management and event promotion.

"We like to make interesting beers," Dubrey said.

Baying Hound features a handful of flagship beers and number of small batch "pirate brews" that are more experimental. The tasting room is located in a warehouse in Rockville and is open Thursday through Saturday. Baying Hound also distributes bottles to a select number of bars and stores in the region.

"We like the experimental aspect of brewing," Dubrey said.

This weekend's autism fundraiser will feature a number of local bands rocking for three days. Literature promoting autism awareness will be available, and $1 from every beer sold will go to Autism Speaks.

Dubrey led the charge in putting the fundraising event together. Her son is autistic.

"Autism Awareness is a big thing for me," she said. "I really wanted to do something to give back to Autism Speaks because they've done a lot for my family and for my son."
