What's the deal with the drum circle at Malcolm X Park?

For more than 40 years, drummers and dancers have gathered on Sundays at the park near Adams Morgan, officially called Meridian Hill Park but known also as Malcolm X Park.

All levels of musical talent can participate, from folks at the "I don't know what music is" level to experts with tremendous knowledge of African culture and African music. "The drummers may not know the history of the expression but they can join the expressions," drummer Doc Powell told The Washington Examiner in an earlier interview.

How many home runs can Bryce Harper hit this year?

After hitting two homers in his first two bats to open the 2013 season, and another one on Saturday, the 20-year-old Harper was on pace for a ridiculous 97 round-trippers for the 2013 season.

In his Rookie of the Year campaign in 2012, Harper hit 22 home runs, the second highest total by a teenager in baseball history and the most ever in the National League.

Forty home runs this year is not out of the question. Only 26 players have hit more than 50. Harper could join that elite club this year.

The blackout will last about a month. No new commands are being sent since flares spewing from the sun can scramble transmission signals and put the spacecraft in danger.
