BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police say a teacher at a Catholic high school has been charged with engaging in sexual activity with a student.

Thirty-three-year-old Lynette Trotta of Parkville was arrested Friday and charged with a fourth-degree sex offense. She is being held on $250,000 bond. Online court records do not list a lawyer for her.

Trotta is a science teacher at Archbishop Curley High School. The school said in a statement posted on its website that she had been suspended.

According to a statement of probably cause, Trotta began showing an interest in the male student last year.

The document says Trotta would and the student would engage in sexual activity in her classroom during school hours. The statement also says Trotta and the student engaged in sexual activity in Trotta's car.
