Md. man pleads guilty to possession of child porn

A Silver Spring man accused of secretly taking photos of interns at a D.C. office pleaded guilty Thursday to possession of child pornography. Marc Gange, 32, faces a likely sentence range from about 8 to 10 years based on federal sentencing guidelines, prosecutors said. According to court papers, Gange met a man online and thought he was communicating with someone who was sexually abusing his 12-year-old daughter. It turned out to be an undercover D.C. police detective.

Gange, who worked as a program officer at the World Wildlife Fund, wrote about taking photos of interns at his workplace, and sent the detective dozens of images of adult men engaged in sexual acts with children. Following his arrest in December 2012, officers found approximately three videos and more than 1,000 images of child pornography from a USB drive of Gange's and on his computer.

A Culpeper mother was ordered to serve 10 days in jail for slapping a school-bus driver, the Culpeper Star Exponent reported. Bethany Lynn Rudd, 33, was found guilty of assault and battery. Rudd admitted in court on Wednesday to hitting the bus driver Helen Gibson on Dec. 14, while Gibson was dropping elementary school students off at their neighborhoods. Rudd said that her 7-year-old son told her that Gibson said she would kill him if he didn't sit down. But Gibson denied that she said that.
