2 killed in Falls Church house fire

Two people were killed in an early morning fire Wednesday in Falls Church.

Fairfax County fire spokesman Dan Schmidt said the ranch-style home at 3103 Manor Road was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes and found the bodies of two people. Two dogs and two cats also died in the fire.

Authorities have not determined the identity of the victims.

Tree-climbing protester banned from D.C.

The California man who climbed a 40-foot tree and screamed anti-abortion slogans during President Obama's inauguration ceremony reportedly has been banned from the nation's capital.

According to WTOP, a D.C. Superior Court judge told 47-year-old Rives Miller Grogan that he was no longer allowed in the District except to return for his next hearing on Feb. 25.

U.S. Capitol Police arrested Grogan and charged him with violating a previous order to stay away from the U.S. Capitol, and for disorderly conduct.

The anti-abortion protester was charged with unlawful conduct Jan. 16 after shouting from the gallery of the Senate building.

Alexandria man charged in sex assault in park

A 25-year-old Alexandria man has been charged in the attack on a woman near Holmes Run Parkway.

Roger Lewis was indicated by a grand jury on charges of attempted rape, attempted sodomy and sexual battery, Alexandria police announced Wednesday.

Alexandria police said that about 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 2, 2012, a 23-year-old woman was walking near the community garden area, just south of the creek on the 5300 block of Holmes Run Parkway, when she was approached by a man.

The man pulled her into a secluded area and attempted to sexually assault her, police said.

The victim broke free and ran away, according to police.
