Three Maryland men were arrested in connection with an early Saturday morning robbery in Adams Morgan.

Police said just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, Sterling Thornton, 22, of Capitol Heights approached an Alexandria man in the 1900 block of Calvert Street NW and demanded his watch. When the man refused, Thornton struck him in the face and body.

A few minutes later, Thornton and two other men, Montero Valentine, 21, of Capitol Heights and Michael Richards, 21, of Landover, approached a New York man and starting punching him from behind. They took his watch and iPhone.

The suspects were apprehended shortly after and were charged with robbery by force. Thornton received an additional charge of assault with the intent to rob because of the initial incident.
