It appears as if the "Top Gun" sequel might be no more. A follow-up to the popular movie starring Tom Cruise had been in the works for awhile. Peter Craig, who wrote "The Town," was lined up to write it. Paramount had re-mastered the original film in 3-D to drum up interest in a sequel. But after the death of "Top Gun" director Tony Scott, the studio was struggling with the idea of moving forward with the project. The New York Times is now reporting that the project is essentially off the table. While the sequel is no more, Paramount still plans on re-releasing the 3-D version of the original.
