President Trump on Tuesday said the country is "fed up" with the NFL players who protest during the national anthem by taking a knee.

"At least 24 players kneeling this weekend at NFL stadiums that are now having a very hard time filling up. The American public is fed up with the disrespect the NFL is paying to our Country, our Flag and our National Anthem. Weak and out of control!" Trump tweeted Tuesday morning.

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started the protests last season and said it was to bring attention to police brutality against blacks.

Since then, other players have joined in across the league, though nearly 90 percent of the 200 players who kneeled during a game this year have ended their protests.
