President Trump reportedly asked former FBI Director James Comey to consider imprisoning reporters if they published classified information.

The suggestion, which Comey disclosed in a memo, came during an Oval Office meeting in February, the New York Times reported Tuesday.

Comey was at the White House for a terrorism threat briefing with other national security officials. After the meeting, Trump asked everyone to leave except the FBI director.

Trump condemned the leaks to the media about former national security adviser Mike Flynn and told Comey that he should consider jailing reporters for publishing classified information.

After Comey's firing last week, Trump threatened to end the daily White House press briefings "for the sake of accuracy" after his administration's account of events kept changing.
