Donald Trump's senior counsel shared a meme on Tuesday accusing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of "murdering an ambassador" and "illegally" deleting public records.
Michael Cohen, who serves as executive vice president of the Trump Organization, posted the meme in reaction to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll showing Trump leading his Democratic opponent as the more trusted candidate on national security.
"This picture says it all!" Cohen wrote, sharing a photo of Clinton smiling with the text, "I presided over $6 billion lost at the State Department, sold uranium to the Russians through my faux charity, illegally deleted public records and murdered an ambassador," written above her.
The tweet was posted shortly before Republicans on the House Select Committee on Benghazi released an 800-page report detailing the findings of their two-year investigation into the 2012 terrorist attacks in Libya, during which U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed. Clinton was at the helm of the State Department when the attacks occurred.
Cohen has come under fire for denying the existence of marital rape and suggesting that "sometimes" anti-Trump protesters "deserve" to be roughed up at the billionaire's campaign rallies.
