White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Thursday that Senate Democrats will be out to destroy Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh at today’s Judiciary Committee hearing.
“I want everybody to see what this is about today,” Conway said on Fox News. “This is hyperpartisanship, haughty, hypocritical, hapless Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee who the president is absolutely right, is here to destroy a man.”
“They’re mad that the swing vote on the United States Supreme Court could be taken over by a Donald Trump appointee,” she said.
She said the Democrats were hypocritical because many have taken money from celebrities on the left like Harvey Weinstein who later got in trouble for their own sexual misconduct.
Conway added that Democrats even pushed Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, to reveal her identity when she wanted to stay anonymous, which has led to death threats against both Ford’s family and Kavanaugh’s.
“They’ve ruined a couple of lives here by sitting on this information,” she said.
Still, Conway said she and President Trump are glad the committee is letting Ford testify today, and said she needs to be heard now that her charges are out there.
Trump said Wednesday he’s open to being swayed by anyone’s testimony, and Conway said the hearing may show that Ford was assaulted, but not by Kavanaugh.
“They may both be right,” she said.
Conway added that it’s “big news” that the committee has interviewed two men who say they were responsible for the assault against Ford, not Kavanaugh.
