President Trump said Thursday that the Democratic Party used the Fusion GPS dossier to spy on his campaign in 2016, and asked if the FBI used that in an attempt to influence the election against him.

"Disproven and paid for by Democrats 'Dossier' used to spy on Trump Campaign. Did FBI use Intel tool to influence the Election?" @foxandfriends Did Dems or Clinton also pay Russians? Where are hidden and smashed DNC servers? Where are Crooked Hillary Emails? What a mess!" Trump tweeted Thursday morning.

The tweet is part of Trump's effort to show that Democrats were more guilty of colluding to influence the election than his campaign, in the face of assertions from Democrats that it was Trump who colluded with Russia to win.

This week, ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Dianne Feinstein of California, released 300 pages of testimony from GPS Fusion co-founder Glenn Simpson. His company funded the dossier, and Republicans have accused the author of working with reporters to get out unverified information on Trump to the press.
