President Trump declined to answer questions on Thursday about rumors that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson could soon leave the administration due to friction with Trump.
"He's here. Rex is here," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday when asked about the speculation surround Tillerson's potential departure.
Tillerson was seen at the White House earlier Thursday.
White House officials are reportedly weighing a plan to replace Tillerson at the State Department with current CIA Director Mike Pompeo, with whom Trump has a warm relationship.
Tillerson and Trump have publicly butted heads over the past several months, and the president has long been rumored to harbor dissatisfaction with Tillerson's performance as the nation's chief diplomat.
