President Trump said Tuesday he doesn't believe in undercutting his Cabinet officials, a week after publicly telling Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to stop "wasting his time" negotiating with North Korea after it was revealed Tillerson was speaking with the regime.

"No, I didn't undercut anybody. I don't believe in undercutting people," he said to reporters.

Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., accused Trump of taking Tillerson's legs out from underneath him in diplomatic negotiations with North Korea.

The tweet came a day after reports indicated Tillerson had a channel to directly negotiate with North Korea.

"I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful Secretary of State, that he is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man," Trump tweeted on Oct. 1. "Save your energy Rex, we'll do what has to be done!"
