President Trump on Thursday blasted the New York Times for allowing its editorial board to lobby Twitter users and their lawmakers against the tax reform bill.

"The Failing @nytimes, the pipe organ for the Democrat Party, has become a virtual lobbyist for them with regard to our massive Tax Cut Bill. They are wrong so often that now I know we have a winner!" Trump tweeted Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, the @NYTOpinion account tweeted, "Contact @SenatorCollins, (202) 224-2523, particularly if you live in Maine, and ask her to oppose the Senate tax bill because it would repeal Obamacare's individual mandate, driving up the cost of health insurance. #thetaxbillhurts."

The tweet urged people to contact other Republican senators, including Lisa Murkowski, Bob Corker, Jeff Flake, and John McCain about the bill.

The NYT editorial board confirmed it was temporarily taking over the account in order "to urge the Senate to reject a tax bill that hurts the middle class and the nation's fiscal health."
