President Trump on Friday rejected reports that he will fire Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, or that he's leaving soon.

"The media has been speculating that I fired Rex Tillerson or that he would be leaving soon - FAKE NEWS! He’s not leaving and while we disagree on certain subjects, (I call the final shots) we work well together and America is highly respected again!" Trump tweeted, along with a photo of Tillerson being sworn into office.

Reports surfaced this week that the White House was moving to push Tillerson out, and another report said that information was leaked intentionally in order to embarrass and humiliate the top diplomat. That report said Trump proposed replacing Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo and moving Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., over to the intelligence agency.

Tillerson has been in trouble with Trump for months, and reportedly called Trump a "moron." Tillerson refused to say whether that was true, but the State Department later said it never happened.

Tillerson himself rejected the idea that he was on the way out. "It's laughable," Tillerson replied when asked about those reports.
