Donald Trump called Jeb Bush's use of his mother — former First Lady Barbara Bush — in a new digital ad a "desperate" move.
The GOP front-runner tweeted Friday evening that the former Florida governor will not be able to call on his mom for help when it comes to foreign policy matters.
The ad comes months after little reference to his twice-presidential family. But since Bush's poll numbers have failed to take off despite his being his "own man," he employed the help of his mother to reinvigorate the campaign.
"Jeb has been a very good father, a wonderful son, a hard worker, his heart is big," Barbara Bush says in the ad. "When push comes to shove, people are going to realize Jeb has real solutions rather than talking about how popular they are or how great they are. He's doing it because he sees a huge need and it's not being filled by anybody."
The Bush campaign team responded on Twitter a couple hours later.
Bush, ranked sixth in the Washington Examiner's presidential power rankings, plans to hold three public events in New Hampshire on Saturday.
