President Trump said Friday he will attend the U.S. Women's Open Championship, which is taking place at his golf course in New Jersey, this weekend.

"Left Paris for U.S.A. Will be heading to New Jersey and attending the #USWomensOpen, their most important tournament, this afternoon," the president said on his Twitter account.

Trump's attendance at the golf tournament hadn't been confirmed by the White House, but tournament organizers built a glass-enclosed skybox overlooking the 16th tee, according to NPR.

Prior to the tournament's start Thursday, women's rights activists urged the U.S. Golf Associaiton to move the tournament, which is being held at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

The president and first lady Melania Trump participated in Bastille Day celebrations in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, earlier Friday.

Trump and Macron also met Thursday in Paris.

The president praised his meeting with Macron after departing France for New Jersey.

"Great conversations with President @EmmanuelMacron and his representatives on trade, military and security," Trump tweeted.
