President Trump's approval rating fell to a new low the first week of August, due to a drop in enthusiasm among his own supporters, according to a Morning Consult/Politico poll released Wednesday.
The Aug. 3-6 survey found only 40 percent of registered voters approve of Trump and 55 percent are not happy with his leadership.
And even worse for Trump, only 41 percent of Trump voters strongly approve of Trump's job in office compared to the 56 percent of respondents who did when he took office in January.
Since Inauguration Day, Trump's approval has dropped six points and his disapproval rate has shot up 18 points. Trump's approval numbers was in the low- to mid-40s since the beginning of June, but has steadily declined since early July.
The poll was conducted online with 1,992 registered voters and had a 2 percentage point margin of error.
