In 2009, Washington Examiner columnist Michael Barone coined the term “gangster government” to describe President Obama’s Chicago-style method of government.

Back then Barone focused on the administration’s strong-arming of Chrysler bondholders and stifling criticism of Obamacare.

In 2011, Examiner columnist David Freddoso published the book “Gangster Government,” exposing Obama for rewarding his political friends and punishing his enemies.

After Wednesday’s House Oversight Committee hearing with IRS official Lois Lerner, the flurry of “I don’t know” and Fifth Amendment pleadings reminded some of us of the video clips from the Estes Kefauver mob hearings of the 1950s.

The video above features Lerner, the General Services Administration’s Jeffrey Neely and Solyndra executives Bill Stover and Brian Harrison “taking the Fifth” and refusing to testify during Congressional oversight hearings.
