On June 22, 2009, nine Metro riders died when a Red Line train slammed into another train near the Fort Totten station. Three years later, a plaque was unveiled Friday in memory of the victims.

Mayor Vincent Gray, along with Metro General Manager Richard Sarles and others, unveiled the plaque on the Charles Langley Bridge on New Hampshire Avenue NE. About 100 people turned out to pay their respects and remember those killed three years ago.
