Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., joked about his wild college days during an appearance at the Young Americans for Liberty Foundation’s national convention on Wednesday night.
Paul participated in a panel discussing liberty that included Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah., and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas as the moderator asked the three to describe their lives in college.
“So when I was in college, I was in the library every night, home in bed by 9 o’clock, I never drank any beer or smoked any pot. ... ” Paul began.
“Actually, no, no, that’s Mike Lee’s story,” Paul joked. “I’m stealing Mike Lee’s story.”
“No, I had a good time as a kid,” Paul admitted, after the crowd laughed. “But, you know, I still somehow finished college, you know, and went on to other things.”
Paul added that he was honored to work with constitutional scholars like Cruz and Lee – admitting that he was “just a doctor.”
