The 25th Annual Legislative Summit kicked off Wednesday morning with Capitol Hill lawmakers addressing the crowd.
Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., used the opportunity to address the crowd on a number of issues, including the Keystone XL pipeline.
While a portion of her speech focused on looking towards the future, including reducing student loan debt and children's medical care, most of her speech stayed on the current issue of energy in the United States.
"We've got to keep producing energy," Heitkamp says. "By that I mean wind, by that I mean biofuels, by that I mean crude oil, and by that I mean electricity produced by coal."
