“Whoa!” exclaimed White House reporters today, as President Obama appeared in the White House briefing room with his press secretary Jay Carney.
Obama pointed out that he was surprised the room was mostly empty on a Friday afternoon.
“That’s so — that’s so disappointing, man. Jay, is this kind of — the kind of respect that you get?” he asked. “On television it usually looks like you’re addressing a full room.”
Obama explained to the surprised reporters that he wanted to address the George Zimmerman case – after the verdict had driven the news for most of the week.
“The reason I actually wanted to come out today is not to take questions, but to speak to an issue that obviously has gotten a lot of attention over the course of the last week,” he explained, referring to the case.
