President Obama announced Thursday he was authorizing airstrikes over Iraq, saying the U.S. could no longer ignore the humanitarian crisis happening there. Two airstrikes were carried out Friday morning over northern Iraq targeting Sunni Islamic extremists.

Earlier in the week, the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit was held in Washington. Fifty heads of state from all over Africa gathered with Obama to discuss strengthening ties between the U.S. and Africa.

At the summit, Obama addressed the growing concern over the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. More than 900 people have died from this outbreak so far. The World Health Organization on Friday morning declared the outbreak as an international health emergency.

Next week, be sure to keep your eyes on the campaign trail. Connecticut, Minnesota and Wisconsin are set for their primary elections.
