Barack Obama said “we’ve excluded lobbyists from policymaking jobs.” He also said that he wouldn’t let lobbyists fund his campaign. While some in the media bought what he was selling, neither claim was ever true. Thursday’s nomination simultaneously shows the falsity of both claims — Thomas Wheeler is an ex-lobbyist who was a major Obama bundler.

Time reports:

U.S. President Barack Obama named prominent venture capitalist Tom Wheeler as his nominee to be the new chairman of the Federal Communication Commission … Wheeler, a former top cable and wireless industry lobbyist, raised more than $700,000 for Obama’s two presidential election campaigns….

And here’s one blog post from last year about other lobbyists in policymaking jobs in the Obama administration.
