President Trump on Wednesday again accused Democrats of holding up efforts to pass a broader immigration reform measure and teased his own proposal.
“It’s the Democrats fault, they won’t give us the votes needed to pass good immigration legislation. They want open borders, which breeds horrible crime. Republicans want security. But I am working on something – it never ends!” the president tweeted.

Trump has blamed Democrats for the situation on the border in which children are being separated from adults who are caught illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
Under the administration’s zero tolerance policy, all adults apprehended for illegally crossing the border are referred for criminal prosecution.
Trump and top officials in his administration have called on Congress to address the situation with legislation and defended the government’s work, saying they’re following the law.
The House could vote this week on two larger immigration packages that will include measures to address family separation.
But in the Senate, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told reporters Tuesday a narrow legislative fix to address the separation of children from their parents was needed.
