The White House offered “thoughts and prayers” to the grieving family and friends of people killed in Sutherland Springs, Texas when a man opened fire on parishioners at First Baptist Church Sunday morning.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement President Trump has been briefed about the incident and spoke with Texas Gov. Greg Abbot about the incident.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the friends and families affected. May God comfort them all in this time of tragedy,” Sanders said in a statement to reporters.

Multiple reports indicated the shooter was 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelley, from Texas, opened fire during a church status at about 11:30 a.m. local time Sunday. He was killed in the aftermath of the shooting, but it’s not clear if he was killed by police or took his own life.

Reports indicate somewhere between 20 and 25 people were killed in the shooting and between 20 and 30 other people were injured.

Police are expected to address the media to give more details about the shooting later on Sunday evening.
