A Trump administration official rejected reports that the president is evaluating whether to pull out of peace negotiations between Israel and Palestinians after a conflict arose during a meeting between top aide Jared Kushner and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, according to a report.
The Arabic daily Al-Hayat reported on Saturday Abbas became angry after Kushner listed off a set of demands from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to a translation of the article published by the Jerusalem Post.
A Palestinian official told Al-Hayat Kushner would now have to sit down with President Trump to discuss whether the conversations should continue.
However, a senior Trump official told the Jerusalem Post that claims surrounding Trump potentially withdrawing from the conversations altogether were "nonsense."
President Trump has touted his desire to bring peace negations between the Palestinians and Israel since the beginning of his presidency.
